    cdl, but no job yet.

I graduated driving school on 7/18 with a class a CDL and today is 8/26 and i still dont have a job. Ive been denied by cr england, covenant transport, schnieder, crst van, con way, and a few others that i cant remember right now. Today i was just told by crst van that because i have too many misdermeanors that i probably wouldnt get hired, which turned out to be true by the email i just recieved confirming it. I have a tresspassing in 07/ a larceny in 05/ failure to appear in 98/ and drinking while driving in 98. on my mvr i have a dui in 2001. my regular license expired in 05 and i just renewed it on 4/08. a couple companies told me that my license hasnt been valid for atleast a year so they couldnt hire me since i just renewed after three years. not only did i renew it but i reinstated it from suspension for not paying a ticket for driving with no insurance in 2001. none of this sounded like it was so bad while i was attending drivng school since my school recruiter didnt make my record out to be so bad and said that i would still get a job. well its been a month and a half and im still not employed by a trucking company. i still have pending online applications and dont wanna give up. am i just beating a dead horse or maybe im just looking in the wrong places? i was also told by a friend that i was mislead by the school because all they cared about was making a buck, and there was the possibility of a lawsuit to get back my tuition money. personally i really wanna drive a truck but if all else fails this seems the best route to go. what do you guys think?  if anyone has any feed back, any leads to potential employers or something i would definately appreciated. all i want is a friggin truck driving job. thanks guys, sal08.

Here is my two cents. Wake up and smell the coffee. How old are you.... 16? Truck driving schools are in the business of teaching you how to drive a truck and to assist you passing the DMV test. They care about students passing the tests and being certified. And that is what they did. Of course they will tell you that there are plenty of trucking jobs out there, because there are. You can not hold them responsible for making a judgment regarding your criminal records or health history. You are talking about a lawsuit???!!!!... because of your screw-ups? I would not hire you with that record. Are you kidding you should have known that before you even started to get involved in this business. They are "just"  misdemeanors but it show a complete lack of responsibility. And two DUIs?????? And you sound surprised that they are not standing in line to hire you? You will not get hired with that record. There is something you can do but you will probably need a lawyer since it sounds that you are not one of the brightest. You need to file for an expungement request on each case. That could clean your records or some of it depending on the judge and the details of your case.

I’m 50 and have complete clean records criminal as well as driving. I don’t know how you guys do it.  Good luck.

Re: cdl, but no job yet.

I just got through with my training with CRST and my last trainer had just gotten out of prison after serving over 3 1\2 yrs with drug convictions. He had only been out less than 2 yrs. and was training me. I hope this gives you a little faith that if you want something bad enough, you'll get it. I suggest you look in the owner operators who may need you just for your log book hrs. They are out there.

Re: cdl, but no job yet.

I am sorry to here your bad luck. Since 9-11 all companies do a background check and almost all of them require it be more than 5 years old. no it is not possible to sue the school, for false representation. due to the fact that it is not a requirement to attend school to get a cdl at this time. just have to pass a few test and the driving criteria and your done. If i was you, I wouldnt get in any more trouble number 1 and apply for positions like yard hostler, just to get in with a company. your larceny charge will be 4 years old  next year and give arrow a call. you can do an online app with them now if you like, they are a flat bed company. 800-759-2009. great company and you'll love it. good luck.
