changing things on your DAC report

i posted before with no replies, but i have another question. I was terminated from my last trucking job due from what I was told, "not following company procedure". I was working for a local company, but out 1 to 2 nights a week. I was told by my dispatcher that if I was going to be out sick, to call and leave a voicemail on the office phone this way he got it when he first came in, and I didnt wake him up @ 3am. I did just that, and the next day I get called into the safety office, saying that i didnt follow their procedure. I'm fired. No warning, no nothing.

Well, I order my DAC report, and it says they let me go because of "safety issues" now I think this is what is keeping me from working. I dont know maybe I should just give up on trucking. Any advise? Can i dispute that at all with DAC services?

How do I get my DAC Report corrected?

You need to start by sending DAC a letter, CRRR, adivising them of the disputed entry and requesting that they remove it. They have thirty days to either verify the information or make a corrected entry.

    USIS Commercial Services Division
    Attn: Consumers Department
    PO Box 33181
    Tulsa, OK 74153

I would do my best to dispute it and supply all the necessary information to show it was done. They have to show due cause to fire you and this is their reason. If you have this "not following company procedure" in writing from the make a copy and send it in as well. ask for this to be removed as this information is incorrect.

    hope this helps,

Re: changing things on your DAC report

We hooked up with a company so drivers can get their DAC reports without having to jump through hoops and I think the reports are emailed to you. I have been speaking with Derik and feel this is a worth while link for all drivers to have the cost is 39.00 a year so I figured this was well worth the expense.

Re: changing things on your DAC report

Does Greyhound report on the DAC??? I am curious because I got my license back, had some issues with child support. Now I'm trying to get what was a class B a class A now. I was going to go with May Trucking, but with Economic downturn their mileage has seriously dropped so I'm going with Werner. Will any issues with Greyhound be on my DAC?

Re: changing things on your DAC report

I would suggest you get your report from DAC to see as no one can answer that question for you. I would make sure so you know what is on the report and can prepare your answers in advance.

Re: changing things on your DAC report

IMHO......  The DAC is nothing more than a "blackmailing" tool.   Right now, I'm looking around for a driving job.  Company "XYZ" turned me down because my most recent employer (company "ABC") has listed in my DAC that I had a "accident" in June of this year.   The  "accident" was that I supposedly "struck a stationary object", when in reality I simply "bumped" a small freshly planted sapling tree about two inches in diameter.  Didn't even feel it;  not even sure the yard-jockey didn't do it and then blame it on me.  Damage to the tree was almost non-existant; still the shipper turned it in to my company.

Guess what?   I'm getting letters from company "ABC" begging me to come back!!!   Something don't smell right here, as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, company "ABC" used to be one of the very best companies to drive for (again, IMHO).  Now they are among the WORST (again, IMHO).  I'm new here so I don't know if it's OK to post the name or not, so I won't.  I've been with them TWICE and loved it the first time.  Now they couldn't hire me back for anything.

Does this website allow you to submit a dispute electronically (email) for the $39 fee?  Or is it strictly "reporting" only?

    Tks

Once you are registered with DOTJobHistory, there are tools on the members only section that contain the dispute forms and process. And unlike the DAC report request, the form must be printed and completed, then sent on.  Once received, DAC has 30 days to investigate.

We spoke to our contact. and one of the things he suggested was to save the letters from company ABC wanting you to come back (store them in your digital document vault if you are registered with DOTJobHistory).

He stated one of the categories of information on a "DAC Report" is eligibility for rehire. If a company is reporting you as not eligible, but you are getting letters inviting you back, the letters you are receiving can immediately disprove their reporting and get your DAC changed.

Re: changing things on your DAC report

Thank you BubbaDAC......   At the risk of breaking a rule here (I haven't read them all) company ABC is (name listed once I know it's OK).  As I said, I was with them twice and the first time was a joy.  Second go 'round was a nightmare.  In the past, they have had one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry (or at least, so the CEO brags in new hire orientation).

Anyhow, I have BOTH letters from them inviting me back.  One was from the VP of Operations, the second was from the Director of Recruiting.  I emailed the Ops VP stating I'd be happy to come back with a couple of conditions.  The biggest of which that I be assigned to the same board as when I was there the first time; NOT to the "witch" I was assigned to most recently.  He didn't even bother to respond.

So, as soon as my DOTJobHistory is fully up and running (it takes 10-14 days for DAC to respond;  funny the carriers can get an answer in a day at most, sometimes even HOURS) I will do as you suggest and attach the two letters to my "document vault".

Re: changing things on your DAC report

Well, they are not reporting me as INELIGIBLE, but that a rehire would need to be reviewed.  I do have the letters mentioned, both of them.  Unfortunately, the company I'm looking at wants no more than TWO Accidents/Incidents on the DAC.  I have three, and the two letters probably would not refute them, even though the company providing the letters are the same one reporting one of the incidents.

Damage on that incident may have been as much as $200, but all the DAC says is "struck a stationary object".  I asked them if it wasn't a bit crappy to deliberately place a blemish on my record while still inviting me back, and was told "that's just the way it is".  I could never be found liable in a civil court, but that doesn't matter.  The company just arbitrarily decided to "side" with the customer and throw me under the bus.  Surprise, surprise!!!!    BTW, the guilty company is Crete Carrier.

    Thanks for your info, BubbaDAC
