I AM A CDL INSTRUCTOR WITH A STUDENT FIXING TO GRADUATE. HE HAS A FELONY AND WAS PUT ON PROBATION 4/12/2006 AND IT ENDS 11/12/2011. HE HAS PUT IN NUMEROUS APPS. AND TURNED DOWN EVERY TIME. IS THERE ANY TRUCKING COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT WILL GIVE SOMEONE A SECOND CHANCE AND HIRE THEM

I got a problem, can anyone help? I moved here to a desert place called Pahrump, NV in June 2009. I came from the Philippines and lived there for 4.5 yrs., in that time period, my CDL A license from Texas exp'd (12/31/08). I drove for a tanker company in Texas before moving to the PI., and have 3.5 yrs. experience trucking. I had to unfortunately reapply for my CDL A here in Pahrump and now have a "Permit" Ugh!... how embarrassing. Companies will not hire me because I have not driven for the 4.5 yrs. in the PI. I'm looking to find a company that needs a driver for 48 OTR looking to run coast to coast reefer trailer's dry van as long as it's a condo freight liner with a detroit would like to drive the new dd15 as I've heard it's a powerful and quit engine with 50 more hores than the 60 and better fuel mileage due to the turbine technology and the condo gives you the RV treatment plenty of room and comfort So any recuiter that needs a good safe clean driver that knows quilcom's inside and out . WOULD Possible CONSIDER TEAMING

I've tryed the truckstops trying to find a company needing a clean safe drive . Here's what I can bring to the table 10 pluss yrs mechanic on big class A Trucks Clean MVR with HASMAT . Dependable hard worker willing to go the limit (((A HONEST DAYS PAY FOR A HONEST DAYS WORK ))) There seems to BE no need for drivers Everyone is saying Drivers are a dime a dozen . Hello to all. Just passed my CDL 'A' yesterday. Going to DMV on Tuesday to get my new license, as well as add doubles/triples and tanker endorsements. Due to being a newbie with NO experience, I am going to one of the infamous "starter" companies. I am doing this ONLY out of necessity.

I'll be honest; I have been accepted by XXXXX and can go to training the 20th of THIS month. However, I am growing concerned about their "reputation" for treatment of drivers, specifically their trainees. I know that I have to start at the bottom and work my way up and I wouldn't have it any other way. BUT I would like to start my trucking career on a positive note and not wait days at a terminal waiting for the next load (as I hear is often the case at XXXXXX, among many other issues).

Anyway, if anyone knows of a decent company or a O/O second seat opportunity for someone in Northern Illinois area, let me know. I am a retired veteran and my wife is a fed gov't employee, SO I do not need benefits, just a paycheck.

I need a job but i have apllied to every trucking company i can think of, I have nothing on my dac report. after i completed trucking school at cr england i went home for didnt like it there, I got a job at a local company with really no experience to speak of, well on my first day i put yellow paint on the trailer from a pole no damage to trailer and no write up, ok about 4 months later i did a stupid thing and clip another trailer and open the side, remind I didnt do any damage to the other trailer. after i did it i felt really stupid, then awhile after that i had a suv cut me off and slam on breaks of course a put on mine and the load shifted. again no write up. well then one week after tht I pulled out from the dock (which the lighting was non to pour i struck a black car and dented the fender with the trailer, ) I did not see this car and it was a 1993 grandprix. ok lost my job I did not get any tickets for this and and nothing on my dac report. but the small company i worked for is black balling me, The only company that will hire me is cr england and not looking to go back there becuz of all the stuff i hear about them... What can I do, qit putting this company down and start all over with the time i have driving is 6 months. please let me know your thoughts.

i have 4 misedermeanors and i cant get a job. what companies hire guys with four misdermeanors. does anyone know. ive been rejected by swift, cr england, schnieder, crst, covenant, conway, roehl, stevens, quite a few more that i cant remember right know. my dui's 7 years old and i have an open container in 98. 1 tresspasing 07/ larceny 05/ failure to appear 98/ drinking while driving which was actualy an open container charge, my license was never suspended for it and it doesnt show in mvr. 2001 dui which does show on my mvr. failure to show proof of insurance in2001, license suspended indefinately for not paying ticket which was finally cleared in april of 08. please what do you guys think

Two weeks ago I was all packed ready to go to orientation for Prime. On the day I was to get my ticket info the recruiter called to say there are no trainers available until further notice.

Next step, go to Swift and set up orientation. Same exact thing happened this morning. I have a clean record and solid work history so I know it's not me.

If Swift is being effected by this economy that's a bad sign for the rest of the companies.

Free Training isn't Free

Any of you folks out there thinking you will get free training from Schneider National - read the fine print very carefully. I know someone who went for the ''free'' training only to be told they weren't keeping up - just one day after the option to leave with no obligations for payment. So, at that point he was told he had to pay for all the training - unless he got his CDL from another source. He went to a school and paid for his own training and went back to Schneider with a CDL he received from a school. They let him work on his training for 3 days and made it really hard on him, screaming at him in the cab. He got so nervous he went the wrong way and in trying to turn around, scraped a sign or something so minor there was no damage. They fired him that afternoon citing a preventable accident. Guess what? HE STILL HAS TO PAY FOR HIS TRAINING!!!!! THEY CALL EVERY MONTH LOOKING FOR HIS MONEY!!!! So, he has no driving job and they still want their cash. It's a scam folks. Be careful. They want your money more than giving you a job so they can keep their training going. It seems to be profitable for them lately. They end up getting rid of about half of the students they take in every week....with each one being forced to pay them back....not a bad take.

Good morning; Anyone out there who brings there wife with them? Any tips? My wife and I just finished a year and a half in a class A motorhome and now we are going back to work. I signed up in a good school recommended by the trucking companies in the area and will graduate at the end of april. My wife will be coming with me. Anyone that has done this, I would appreciate any heads up on problems we might run into or any other advice. Thanks

Good evening ladies and gents this is bigg will coming at you from atl,ga i recently obtained my learners permit classs A with (p) and (n) endorsements i currently work a 40 hr job and run a household,my problem is that i dont have time for a school to complete my certification,i have submitted an application to coca-cola because they do what i need the most which is OJT.Most schools need you to be in class 11 or 12hrs a day and that is impossible right now,i am currently looking for permanent part-time regular or causual.I cannot commit to full-time but i can give you all the part-time you can handle.If you know of a company please give me a shout out.THANKS YOUR FRIEND BIGG WILL

Can someone please tell me this isn't normal! My husband recently graduated and got his CDL. He signed on with Werner three weeks ago. He took the stay and train for 6 weeks and get the $500 bonus. This is his third week out and the majority of the time he's been in hotel rooms. He's logged 40 hours driving time and is now on his third trainer!!!! The first trainer who about killed him several times was constantly texting his girlfriends and his wife and constantly on the computer to which he would let no one see the screen. He would drive under my husbands log in and caused some property damage to which I finally talked my hubby into requesting a different traininer and filing a complaint against trainer number one....ok so he's back in hotel for a day and is hooked up with trainer number 2. A 23 year old, 2 year veteran with Werner who hasn't been home in 6 weeks and now my hubby has to spend a week in a hotel in Atlanta!! Meanwhile, the 23 year old is throwing a fit cause he's not sure if he's going to be able to get home and ends up bob tailing home and throwing a fit...now this I understand..that's a long time to be away from home. But this isn't helping my cause or my husbands to get trained. So he requests he be on the sheet to go out the next day with another trainer. So it's the week-end now and he can't get a hold of anyone to help him but after a few tries he reaches someone who helps him get a hotel room after much conflict and puts him on the list to go out. He has now been in a truck with trainer number 3 and I hop to hell this one actually trains him!!

Our goal is to drive team after he gets established I will go back to school and we will do this together but man has it been a hell of a ride! Is this normal?

Was wondering if you all could help me decide if trucking is for me by telling me what you like and or don't like about driving? I am retired Marine Corps and currently employed as a diesel technician. I make good money but I want something more. I have been reading this forum and have looked into a driving school but just trying to decide if this is something that I want to do. I love the thought of being independant. Money is not my motivation for wanting to do this. In all actuality I would be taking a severe paycut more than likely but am looking at driving for longevity purposes. Working on them is a tough way to go especially for old folk! Thanks in advance for any replies.
