Hey all! I am a 30 year old man from Michigan. It has been my dream since I was a kid to drive a truck. However I got myself into a little trouble quite a few years ago. 1995 to be exact. I know I messed up but I would love to get my foot into the door with a company that would be willing to hire a guy who made a mistake. I know how most people feel about felons but I have a family that I am trying to care for and they are my first priority. Community college is too expensive and working for minimum wage just doesn't cut it. I would love to find a company so my wife could be at home with the kids while I make the money for us to live at least a somewhat comfortable life. Can anyone help? Please?

I take it you have no trianing what so ever? If thats the case,you will not find a large a company to take you on ie,Werner,JB,Shneider etc,etc. Im a two time felon and like you I always wanted to be a truck driver and I had many upon many of doors closed on me because of my record. I got my break from an owner operator out of KC MO. alot of the time you will get the excuse that we cant do nothing for you, its not the company saying it.its the insurance company saying no they wont insure you. Find a small small outfit not a new one but one thats been out there,they may do something for you,but until you can prove yourself ie,execellent work history (driving) I just dont think your gonna find a company to take you out of school and put you in a truck. Action Freight out of Michigan has their own freight and they will hire anyone. Trust me on this I worked there and they have felons straight out of the pen working there. You have to take a drug test and fill out an application and talk to the day shift or night shift supervisor to get on but they truely do hire anyone. So I would suggest that you call information and get their number as I cant find it or remember what it was and get yourself a job with them. They have their own freight and the day shift drivers are local and the night shift drivers are otr. They are a slip seat company but hey thats okay right you need a job and they are pretty nice people there as long as you get your  load there on time and you are dependable. So that is my suggestion to you and I hope that you give them a call and get your life on the right track so you can take care of your family. The application is lengthy but dont worry about that just write down what they want to hear they dont check anything anyway they just want the paperwork filled out correctly for DOT purposes. (smile) you still have a chance at your dream you just have to start somewhere and hopefully you will call them and things will change for you. Good luck let me know how things go for you okay.
